Police Search Canal for Clues in Stacy Peterson Case
Stacy Peterson has been missing since October, 2007
Updated 7:10 PM CDT, Wed, Apr 29, 2009

State police and the U.S. Coast Guard combed a canal adjacent to the Des Plaines River on Wednesday for clues into the disappearance of Stacy Peterson.

Drew Peterson's attorney says Wednesday's search, coupled with an apparent leak of internal police documents, is an attempt to bait Drew Peterson into...
Divers searched a roughly one-mile portion of the Sanitary Drainage and Ship Canal between Romeoville and Lockport, concentrating in an area behind the Will County Power Plant. The canal runs parallel to the river.
While State police confirmed the search was related to the Peterson investigation, they wouldn't comment specifically on if divers were searching for evidence or Stacy herself.
"Whenever the investigation leads us to an area that investigators feel needs to be searched, it's done when it's feasible," said State Police Sgt. Tom Burek.
Since her disappearance in October of 2007, the focus of the investigation has been on her retired police officer husband, Drew. His attorney, Joel Brodsky, called Wednesday's search a waste of time.
"They did it all last summer," Brodsky said. They're doing it again, so I don't think it's of any significance."
But the spokeswoman of Stacy Peterson's family said that it's searches like these that give the family hope.
"I think what we can take from that is that they're still considering this a very important investigation, and that it's very active," said family spokeswoman Pam Bosco. "We believe she can be found yet, and so we want to put all our efforts into doing our searches. Yet we believe that eventually we will find Stacy."
Brodksy said that the search, coupled with an apparent leak of internal police documents about the day Stacy disappeared is an attempt to bait Drew Peterson into making a mistake. To Brodsky, that document is a detective's hour-by-hour timeline of what Drew Peterson was doing the day Stacy Peterson disappeared.
"I think that the state may be doing both of these things on the same day in order to provoke some sort of reaction from Drew," Brodsky said. "It's time for authorities to start pursuinig the possibility that Drew Peterson is telling the truth when he says Stacy ran away." _________________

| He thinks he is smarter than everybody else. He's not worried a bit!!!! I guess they are looking for a blue barrel? Seems if they were looking for "her" it would be like a needle in a haystack. I wish they'd find something to get him off the streets. I wonder if Stacey's parents get to see her children. |

BOLINGBROOK – Authorities arrested Drew Peterson on Thursday near his Bolingbrook home for the murder of his third wife Kathleen Savio, according to police sources.
“I guess I should have returned those library books,” a hand-cuffed Peterson said Thursday evening as he was being led into state police headquarters.

Police took Peterson into custody at Weber and Lilly Cache roads.
“The charge right now is the murder of Kathleen Savio,” said Lt. Carl Anderson of the state police.
Savio, 40, was found dead in a dry bathtub in her Bolingbrook home in March 2004.
At the time, Illinois State Police failed to find anything suspicious and her death was ruled an accidental drowning by a coroner’s jury.
After Peterson’s fourth wife, Stacy, then 23, disappeared in October 2007, officials reclassified Savio’s death as a homicide and gave the state police another opportunity to figure out who did her in.
Savio’s body was exhumed from its grave. An autopsy conducted in November 2007 determined Savio was the victim of a homicide.
State police have called Stacy Peterson's disappearance is a "potential homicide" and say Peterson is also a suspect in that case. _________________

No surprise
Stepbrother Testifies Drew Peterson Hinted He'd Kill 4th Wife
Thursday, January 21, 2010
JOLIET, Ill. — The stepbrother of a former police officer accused of killing his third wife has testified that he believes he might have helped his sibling dispose of his fourth spouse's body after he strongly hinted he intended to kill her.
Thomas Morphey told a hushed courtroom Thursday that Drew Peterson suggested he would kill Stacy because she planned to divorce him.
Morphey said that the next day he helped Peterson to move a large blue barrel that was warm to the touch.
Morphey was testifying at a hearing to decide whether prosecutors can use "hearsay" evidence to try and prove allegations that Peterson killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio, in 2004.
Peterson hasn't been charged in Stacy's 2007 disappearance. He has pleaded not guilty in Savio's death. _________________

Polive got a lead about Stacey P and are looking today for her body
http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/06/05/drew.peterson.search/index.html?hpt=P1&iref=NS1
and then found another link
hmmm. this link (below) says that Drew told an inmate that he and an accomplice buried Stacey in a steel drum. then the inmate told authorities and told them just who this accomplice was/is. Supposedly police went to this person and he led them to these woods (shown in link). As soon as the dogs were let loose they went directly to where the accomplice said they buried the body. They were supposed to be digging there today. Drew's lawyer however says this could not be true because Drew isn't allowed by any other inmate so he couldn't have told him. Course his new lawyer is a lawyer for the mafia . Here's a pic on the link. Wonder if this guy could be the accomplice. May just be the owner of the property. Also, I thought that Drew's brother or friend said he helped carry the blue barrel out of the house. Is this supposedly another accomplice?

Yes, that article on them finding a body was written Friday, before they did the digging.
This is a portion from the TMZ article.....sounds fishy to me. They insinuate DP told them who helped him bury the body and they went and picked up this person and the person took them out to the location. Now, if you were an accomplice to burrying someone, would you just say "Oh, yea, I helped him bury her. If you have time I'll go show you where"
From TMZ article:
Will County Sheriff's deputies and prosecutors took the alleged accomplice to Peoria Friday, and the accomplice led them to private hunting grounds. The owner allowed authorities to enter his property and the accomplice then led them to the site where Stacy's body was allegedly buried. The accomplice told authorities the body was stuffed in a metal drum that had been buried underground.
Someone on Websleuths posted this. I don't know where they got it from
Tricia, best I can give you is that LE has now admitted that the credible tip did NOT come from within the jail, but they are still considering it a credible tip....They had an anthropologist on site today who was hand digging a 10 x 10 area but did not locate anything, The search is not going on tomorrow but LE said they may be back out Monday and that the search could take up to a week, From some of the photos of the site today, it did look like they are using some sort of radar to check the ground... _________________

I researched it today and found they aren't searching there anymore. Didn't find a body (human anyway). Apprently there were some bones, but not human. _________________
